Caorle, besides being renowned for its beautiful beach and characteristic historic centre, also boasts the appellation 'City of Sport'.
This name is due to the quantity and quality of the sports facilities that the city makes available to guests who choose Caorle as their holiday destination. The municipal stadium is located at the entrance to the town in a central area. It has a large car park, easy to reach for those arriving from outside Caorle and also for those staying in the various accommodation facilities that the town offers.
The sports hall is home every year to the women's national basketball team, but not only basketball, there are also various national and international events, such as the karate world championship, the darts championship, etc.
Other sports facilities are:
- the municipal swimming pool with a gymnasium, located close to the Porto Santa Margherita beach,
- the 18-hole golf course,
- tennis courts,
- two indoor five-a-side football pitches with an adjoining bocce court
- a field for inline hockey and figure skating
- The town's pride and joy is water sports. Since 1970, the Gruppo Sommozzatori Caorle (Caorle Diving Group) has also been operating in the area, running diving courses and dives in the Caorle sea. While a few kilometres from the main town is a riding school that organises rides in the beautiful countryside of the municipal area, in the nearby municipality of S. Stino di Livenza, just 20 km from Caorle, there is an airfield where tourist hang-gliding flights are possible.
Since the early 20th century, our territory has undergone a radical change. Most of the forests have been cut down to obtain fields for cultivation, embankments have been built to bridle watercourses and marshes reclaimed. The coastal environment, on the other hand, is constantly changing between silting processes and progressive erosion.
